Porrhomma convexum (Westring, 1851) - It is an eutroglophile species with little size (length of the body about 3 mm), widespread in Italy (excepted the islands) and known of a lot of cavities; this little spider hunts particularly on the ground capturing directly little insects. In Piemonte it is known of some caves of the Ligurian, Maritime, Cottian and Graian Alps and recently (dec. 2000) it has been discovered a new locality in the Canavese, in the north-western Piemonte (Levone Cave), by the author together with Claudio Arnò. The eyes are functional, in spite it usually lives in the deep dark; it's possible to find it also in dark cellars and in the forest's litter.BIBLIOGRAPHY |
