Arthropoda, Diplopoda, Chordeumatida
Diplopoda, Chordeumatida, Craspedosomatidae,
Plectogona sanfilippoi (Manfredi, 1956) - The Arthropods belonging to the Diplopoda Class that is characterized by 2 pair of legs in each segment unlike the Chilopoda Class that have only 1 pair of legs in each segment. The genus Plectogona groups species with reduced eyes well adapted to the hypogean and endogean life; the species sanfilippoi is widely diffuse in the Cuneese province with some endemic subspecies (sanfilippoi - Caudano Caves, bosseae - Bossea Cave, dronerae - Lair of the Dronera, digheae - "Garb del Dighea"). They are amply saprophage and it is easy attract them with organic baits in decomposition, particularly if of animal origin. They are completely depigmented, on the contrary of the epigean Diplopods that have soon bright colors; moreover, the Plectogona show legs and antennas quite lengthened. (Real size: 18÷25 mm).Other images:
