Arthropoda, Arachnida, Pseudoscorpiones
Arachnida, Pseudoscorpiones, Syariniidae - Pseudoblothrus sp. - This troglobite species has been captured by the author in only one specimen (at the moment in study) into a mine assay dig in the southern side of the Spalavera Mons, above Piancavallo, on the mountains at North of Verbania, near the Lago Maggiore (Major Lake). It is an Arachnid remarkably adapted to the hypogean life, as show its appendages and abdomen very lengthened, like the more specialized pseudoscorpions belonging to the genus Neobisium. The genus Pseudoblothrus belongs in Piemonte another species, P. ellingseni, already described for two cavities of the south-western Alps, while the total area of the genus extends from the Pyrenees to the Swiss Alps with five, all troglobite, species. (Real size of the body: 4-5 mm)
