Pterodroma feae
Pelagic, breeding on islands in burrows on steep slopes. Desertas Is. (Bugio); Cape Verde Is. (Santo Antão, São Nicolau, Fogo, São Tiago). Status of two birds from the Azores is uncertain, but they suggest that P. cahow may be part of this complex. Birds identified as this species have been reported off the Carolinas and Great Britain. The 150-200 pairs that breed on Bugio Island are threatened by the effects on breeding burrows of goats and rabbits (World Bird-Watch 16(1):2). |
