        Upupa  marginata  MADAGASCAR HOOPOE  Dry open areas, sparse dry forest, subarid thorn scrub, plantations, villages.  Madagascar, exc. the east where it occurs rarely in deforested areas.  Differs in voice and morphology from the mainland forms.
