My passion for Celtic music has been lasting
for more than twenty years. In the following pages, beyond a general introduction
to the history and the main characteristics of this fascinating musical world,
you will find sections about the instruments
used, web pages of the main artists,
and above all (as a former guitar player) "Celtic
Fingerstyle Guitar", (that is Celtic music
from the point of view of a guitar player)...
The little Photo Gallery is a mini-collection of personal photos someway linked to guitar and "Celtic-oriented" guitarists. The pages about Irish Music, finally, are by Erick Falch'er-Poyroux. In this case I'm just a translator into Italian of this very interesting thesis about the "Irish Musical Identity". Sorry guys, I don't think there will be any translation into English of the "Irish Music" pages: it's a very, very, very, long work, and my extra time is very, very, very short... Here you will find the original thesis in French and anyway, if you want an English translation, you could go to "Go!Translate" web site... A heartfelt thanks to
"Mammola" and Paul Heeney, friends whose aid has been fundamental in
the drawing up of these pages. Thanks also to Paul de Grae and
Keith Hinchliffe,
for inspiring the pages on "Celtic Fingerstyle Guitar" with their
books: "Traditional Irish Guitar" Ossian Publications Ltd, 1996, Cork,
Ireland; and "Carolan's Dream", Dave Mallinson Publications, 1996,
Cleckheaton, England. A particular
thanks, finally, to Art
Edelstein for correcting and supervising the
translation into English of these pages. |
