The Vatican Grottoes
The Vatican Grottoes are an integral part of the sacred space of the Basilica and are located between the floor of the Basilica of Constantine and the current one. They consist of two parts: a semicircular peribolus that one can admire the chapel of St. Clement and Peter, four chapels at the corner of the pillars of the cruise and several Marian chapels of various ages and nations.
