Could this also affect the nervous system?

All information which human beings receive are perceived only through the brain which reacts according to the needs of the moment: rapidly and for a prolonged period of time.

Thus a violent message such as a shot evokes an urgent response of which the individual is consciously aware, but if the stimulus is below the level of consciousness, the individual may not be aware of it but the brain will react in any case without the person realizing it.

This is what happens when the cause is the problem of poor positioning of the dental arches which may not always be detectable by the individual but which the brain clearly perceives and reacts for the entire duration according to how it processed the stimulus.

In this case could each person have personalized symptomologies?

In part the answer lies in the question itself.

Each individual who presents an uneven contact ratio between the upper and lower jaw bones has his own symptoms which can fool both the patient himself and the doctor since the symptom may be misleading This is not to say that some results may not be achieved in any case with treatment even if it is not properly focussed on the solution of the problem and tends only to eliminate or alleviate the symptom, but these are temporary improvements and do not eliminate the original cause.

The alignment needs only to vary in the slightest and the symptom situation changes radically.

As a illustration of this, let us say, for example, that abdominal muscular pains caused by gnathological problems lead a person to believe that he is suffering from stomach, bowel or liver disease, not to mention muscular backache caused by malocclusion which can cause a herniated disk,  arthrosis or sciatica when the fibres of the lower limbs are suffering muscle problems.

What are the symptoms which would suggest a visit to the Gnathologist?

There are no absolute symptoms which can be defined as “gnathological pathology” and since the range of influences on the individual is so vast, it is impossible to indicate definite parameters in terms of symptomatology which only a Gnathologist can deal with judging from what the sufferer describes.

Generally speaking, a Gnathologist should be consulted when other consultations have not given satisfactory results since the Gnathologist is involved in almost all fields of medicine both directly (muscle-muscle) or indirectly (bad dental positioning -nervous system).

In fact, in daily clinical practice one sees patients who just happen by accident upon the Gnathologist and who are truly suffering from causes deriving from malocclusion over a considerable period of time despite the ranks of doctors consulted who, because the symptoms are so vast and varied, never thought of this possibility although no pathology was discovered.

On the other hand, apparently stable situations which only a surgical operation would seem able to resolve such as scoliosis, the projection or the retraction of the mandible, limbs of differing lengths etc. can be properly repositioned with adequate gnathological treatment and without recourse to surgery.

We shall, however, take a general look at the most recurrent symptoms owing to gnathological causes subdivided by apparatus and system.
