Arthropoda, Diplopoda, Chordeumatida

Diplopoda, Chordeumatida, Craspedosomatidae, Plectogona angustum Latzel, 1887 - This Plectogona species is widespread in the more southern zone of the Tanaro Valley, ant it's possible find it both in the Bear Cave of Ponte di Nava and in the Vene Cave, hundred of metres higher than the first cave. In the Vene Cave different authors determined different subspecies; this is a zoogeographical enigma that must be solved: or there is a very polymorphous species, or there are different species. Among the representatives of his genus is the species with much more difference from the fore and the back dimensions of the body. It has reduced eyes, in spite of it lives completely in the dark in hypogean environment, hundred of metres into the mountains. (Real size: 20÷25 mm).
