Boyle moves into "House" at Lifetime
PASADENA, California (Hollywood Reporter) - Lara Flynn Boyle has signed on
to star in the Lifetime original movie "The House Next Door," based on the
novel by Anne Rivers Siddons.
The project centers on a woman who is drawn to a home filled with a unique
sort of evil that preys on its inhabitants' weaknesses and slowly destroys
their goodness. It premieres in November.
Boyle is best known for her roles on "The Practice" and "Twin Peaks." The
women's cable network announced the project Friday during its portion of
the Television Critics Assn.'s press tour.
It also revealed that Sarah Chalke and Jay Harrington would star in the
movie "Why I Wore Lipstick to My Mastectomy," based on the memoir by
Lifetime executive Geralyn Lucas, a breast cancer survivor. It also
features a cameo appearance by Patti LaBelle as a cancer patient. Chalke's
credits include "Scrubs" and "Roseanne," while Harrington's include
"Desperate Housewives" and "Coupling."
The network also highlighted its upcoming original movie "The Fantasia
Barrino Story: Life Is Not a Fairy Tale," starring the "American Idol"
winner as herself. The movie, inspired by her autobiography, premieres at
9 p.m. August 19, followed by repeat airings over the next two nights.
Barrino, who was brought to tears while watching highlights from the movie
during the session, said it was difficult to relive certain moments,
including a rape, during filming.
"I went through a lot of different emotions," said Barrino, who clutched
director Debbie Allen's hand during the length of the session. "I didn't
think it was going to be tough going back and playing myself, but it was
hard to relive those moments. . . . But it's going to help so many people.
I'm grateful I'm able to (share my life)."
The movie "The Mermaid Chair," starring Kim Basinger and based on the book
by Sue Monk Kidd, also is set to have a "special three-night premiere"
starting at 9 p.m. September 9. |
