Pearl Harbor Filming Locations

  • . In fact, those scenes were shot at Disney's Golden Oak Ranch , a private movie ranch located at 19802 Placerita Road in Newhall, CA , north of the San Fernando Valley
  • . Disney Studios (which made "Pearl Harbor") originally leased the ranch for their old "Spin & Marty" episodes on the 1950's "Mickey Mouse Club." They bought it in 1959 and made movies such as "Old Yeller, " "The Parent Trap" and "The Shaggy Dog" there

  • . While I don't expect the full special edition treatment for an old clunker like this, a few tidbits would have been nice, especially if Disney really do want to change their abysmal image with DVD fans

  • . Competing against arguably the most prestigious admission standards of any film school in the country, Davis was not only accepted but caught a huge break when landing an internship at Disney Movie Studios at the end of his master's studies
  • . As a member of Disney's "creative group, " Davis was involved in the development of such films as "Newsies, " "Rocketeer" and "White Fang." But he also got started down a path he wanted nothing to do with -- corporate Hollywood
  • . After two years at Disney and two more at Columbia Studios, Davis packed up his family and headed for the seclusion of the Rocky Mountains

    The 80's Movies Rewind
  • . The film was shopped around to multiple studios until Walt Disney Studios became intrigued by the idea and decided to produce it
  • . Being at Walt Disney Studios was a natural advantage for this
  • . One of the Walt Disney Studio's "Imagineers" (as they call them) working on "Tron" was an aspiring filmmaker named John Lasseter
  • . Seeing the potential of Computer Generated Image animation for the movies, John dreamed of doing a completely CGI animated film, but Disney couldn't afford it due to a hostile takeover bid in 1984 (which the company survived)
  • . So John left Disney and in 1987 founded Pixar Animations, producing short CGI films, until returning to Disney in 1992
  • . Since then, Disney and Pixar have collaborated and had four successful feature length, fully CGI-animated movies: "Toy Story 1 & 2" (1995 & 1999), "A Bug's Life" (1998), and "Monsters Inc." (2001)
