Conan is an optional module for Hoplites based on the Robert
E. Howard's character Conan the Barbarian. The idea of creating a new fantasy
setting for the "historical" Hoplites cames out from a long correspondence
with Tim McCoy, the author of the armies you'll find in the module.

The module has been updated on july 2001 the 30th.
To install the Conan module simply download the archive file into your Hoplites directory and unzip it (please verify that your unzip utility will restore the folder names - checkbox "Use folder names" in Winzip).
After installing the module you can start Hoplites and access the Conan module by clicking on the new Barbarian icon you'll find in the left panel (under the Samurai warrior). If you don't see the icon something's wrong with the install, probably you forgot to re-create the conan folder when unzipping.
Conan include
Two new unit types are included
Both SM and LM are worth TQ*1.5 points, unless they are Elementals (see below).
One notable addition is the capability of Flying: a flying unit can flank every non-flying unit regardless the presence of an adiacent empty area.
Monsters cannot be rallied (they are automatically eliminated when routed) unless they have the CONTROL characteristic (see below).
Every SM and LM has some special characteristic (you can access them by clicking with the right mouse button) that makes it a unique unit:
FEAR | the attacker suffers a -1 to the TQ check in the shock phase |
TERROR | the attacker suffers a -2 to the TQ check in the shock phase |
ACID_BLOOD | +1COH to the attacker when monster is defending |
REGENERATE | 1COH per turn |
FEROCITY | TQ check modifier: -2 |
UNDEAD | -1COH on shock |
SPEED | no manoeuvre when played |
MOUNTED | unit is mounted |
REGENERATE | -1 COH recovered each turn |
STRENGTH | +1 COH on the adversary on shock |
ELEMENTAL | Immune to missile and AS against all units: eliminated in melee when suffer a single COH. Worth TQ/2 points |
FLY | the unit can flank every non-flying unit regardless the presence of an adiacent empty area |
CONTROL | The monster can be rallied |
