DISCUSSION BOARD | HOME | TESTING PROGRAM

1) I'm a MacSoup user. I like the thread viewer feature of this program. With this program is possible to navigate easily within the newsgroups threads. Will Newswire support this kind of thread viewer before the 1.0 release?

Uhm the answer is yes...and no. Well, the thread viewer implemented inside MacSoup is beautiful to see and easy/powerfull to use. I would to implement this viewer in Newswire but I don't think that this is the best solution. I'm thinking about a new viewer for Newswire. If I will found a better method I will add it before the final release.
If I will not found this solution I will implement a viewer like MacSoup.

2) Will Newswire support the AppleScript technology?
Yes sure! Newswire will offer a complete support for this good and usefull Apple technology. Hovewer at this time I can't implement a kind of this because the program is incomplete (and I can't write an AppleScript Vocabulary for an incomplete project) and this is a secondary item. Before of all I must to write a good and efficent code.

3) Will Newswire support th pre-Jaguar (10.2) OS X version?
No unfortunatly not. Or yes? At this time there is not any plan to support Puma (10.1). If you want to use Newswire with this particular version of OS X try to write an e-mail to me. If there will be enough requests I will consider to "port" the code in Puma.

4) Will Newswire supports the multiple identities/servers?
Yes right! Newswire has a totally different identities/server manager concept. If you use MacSoup you will be happy to manage in a single setting multiple identities, signatures and servers. Try to see the screenshot of the lasted internal alpha (A00 - 0.01).

5) I would to use one of the internal releases. Yes I know that "internal" means "incomplete, bugged etc.." but... yes I want to try it!!
No this is not a good idea. Newswire core is almost completed but the program itself (gui manager) is incomplete. I don't want to release a bugged/incomplete/un-stable release of Newswire. So be patient! I'm working hard on code optimization... you will can see the results in some weeks.

6) Now I have MacOS X. MacOS Classic is dead. I would to use "native" OS X applications...Cocoa!!! Where is Cocoa? Is your program writted with the MacOS X standard APIs (Application Programming Interfaces)?
Yes, Newswire is a complete "native" MacOS X application. Pure Cocoa/Objective-C code. So don't worry! :-)

After one month of hard development work I have proud to announce the first internal release. This build, numbered 0.01 (A00), will be not released to the beta tester users. Hovewer I have finally started the 0.x branch, a long way to 1.0 public version. I hope to public the 1.0 version at the end of Febr. 2004.

I have posted three different screenshots of Newswire 0.01: the Main Window, the Groups Drawer, the Post Composer.
