i read the news today,

about a lucky man who made the grade.
and though the news was rather sad,
well, i just had to laugh,
i saw the photograph.

he didn't notice that the lights had changed.
a crowd of people stood and stared,
they'd seen his face before.
nobody was really sure if he was from the house of lords.

the english army had just won the war.

ho letto il giornale oggi, ragazzi,
su un uomo fortunato che ha passato il turno.
E anche se le notizie erano abbastanza tristi,
beh, sono solo riuscito a ridere,
ho visto la foto.
Si è fatto saltare il cervello in una macchina,
non si era accorto che il semaforo era cambiato.
Una folla di gente stava lì e fissava,
avevano già visto al sua faccia.

quattromila buchi in blackburn, lancashire.
