Giorgio Poggi (drum set).
He
was born in Voghera. His passion is drum set. When he was 18 years
old, in 1969 he recorded his first CD with the Bloody fire’s goup
and “Life” a very famous single.
In
the end of 1970 he collaborated with different associations. He
played in all Europe. Ten years later he came to Switzerland and he
still lives here. In 1990 he participated in “We love jazz”
seminar in Genova where he studyed with Joe Chambers.
One
year later he studyed at the “ Academy of music” in Erba with
Skip Hadden.
In
1995 he went to Cuba, with Paolo Wolf to play with a local group.
Two
years later after the death of Ernesto Guevara (Che) he recorded with
Paolo Wolf a CD in memory of Ernesto Guevara. The CD was very
succefull.
From
1994 to 1996 he collaborated with three musicians: Handy J. Forest,
Claudio Bazzarri and Ronnie Jackson for Dave Baker’s CDs.
In
1998 he partecipated in the production and the arrangement of “Vento
e tempesta” with Mauro Savioni.
For
four years he played with the “Gianni Cipolletti and Blues
Feeling’s group” .
Since
1997 he has collaborated with Andrea Massaria, Piero Cozzi and Mario
Cogno. Since 2000 he has collaborated with a Swedish group “Mad
Max” .
He
has worked with Chiara Sgherbini for many years. Together they are
members of the “Virtual Big Band” (project Fiorenzo
Bernasconi’s).
