Giorgio Dini (Double Bass). He started studying the Double Bass in 1984 with Enrico Fazio; under his guide he learnt the classical technique and the principles and the meanings of the Contemporary Music. In the very beginning of his studies he attended the Siena Workshops, teacher Bruno Tommaso. During the following years he met world-wide known bass players like Percy Heath, Charlie Haden, Pierre Michelot. Later on he attended workshops with Furio di Castri, Enrico Rava and Miroslav Vitous. More recently, he attended Masterclasses and concerts about improvisation in the Renaissance (Diedo Ortiz method), in Arabic and in pure Avant-garde music with Michel Godard, Gabriele Mirabassi, Jamal Ouassini and Markus Stockhausen. Among the years he has been playing Mainstream, Bop, Modern and Avant-garde Jazz from Duo to Big band. He performed with: Carlo Actis Dato, Gianni Basso, Luigi Bonafede, Fabrizio Bosso, Ignacio Berroa, Giulio Camarca, Tommy Campbell, Ed Cherry, Francisco Mora, Roberto Cipelli, Antonio Faraò, Franco Mondini, Bob Mover, Ralph Moore, Larry Nocella,Sam Rivers, Irene Robbins, Mike Rosen, Mario Rusca, Carlo Sola, Tanaka Takehisa, James Williams, Jon Worrell. Between 1995 and 2000 he was regular bassist of the Lil Darling Hot Club. Lately
he has been focusing on avant-garde, contemporary and free-form
improvisation, studying the music of Masters like Ornette Coleman,
Francois Rabbath, Luciano Berio and many more.
In 2004 his CD of duo improvisations ("Out!", recorded with Carlo Actis Dato) was released by Silta Records, with very positive reviews on the specialized Media. Today he is developing different projects in creative music with Giancarlo Schiaffini, Stefano Pastor and the Trio with Gianni Lenoci and Markus Stockhausen released the CD "Ergskkem" (Silta Records 2006). |
