Wavelength
It is the distance travelled by a radio wave in free space, during a
single complete cycle. This value is fundamental when designing
antennas and can be computed with this
simple formula: L=300/F where F is the frequency in MHz and
L is the wavelength, in meters.
The ham bands are usually designed with
their approximate wavelength. For example the 20 m band (nominally 15 MHz)
extends from 14 to 14.35 MHz.
