Wat Mahawan in Thaphae Rd
is thought that this temple dates back to the 17th century to the time of the
Burmese occupation of La Na and as a result, the temple has a strong Burmese
influence. The chedi is also of Burmese design.
The temple dates from the Burmese occupation in the 17th century. Although many
of the temple buildings were constructed more recently such as the western
viharn - they show Burmese features. The eastern viharn is however typically
Lanna with an interior displaying murals of local scenes and of Buddha ashe
gained enlightenment. The compound also contains a Burmese style chedi and
wooden scripture library.
