Update: This site is pretty definitive. I've added all the major models and I feel quite satisfied about the final result. Remember: This site is hosted and centered in Rome, and it focuses mainly on models good for Rome, and Italy in general.

This will end up soon, though. In July I am going to move permanently to Oslo, Norway. This page will then shift its attention from the Mediterranean Area to the Scandinavian Area. The Rome section will be progressively removed (or saved, if someone actually cares about it) and the Norway-centered page will kick in. Therefore, the new, scandinavian section will be under construction from now on.

Another note: Believe it or not, this site has been designed to work perfectly at a resolution of no less than 1280 x 1024. Anyway, it works well at 1024 x 768 too, but it is less crispy.

NEWS

15-06-2003

It's too hot, yesterday we reached a temperature of +38,9, I thought I was dying. Anyway, it can't go worse than this. Today I added a few more charts and removed some dead links. Have fun!

15-02-2003

Eh.. still circulation from the East. Very sunny days, though a bit cool (max +9 and min. around 0 °C). Wind from the east, sharp cold feeling. Not many precipitations, repaired as we are by the Appennines. Sunday will be very cold, but no hope for snow. Eastern circulation is like this. *sighs*.

27-12-2002

Christmas passed without much notice. This december is relatively warm and exceptionally wet here due to strong atlantic winds that keep taking wet cold fronts towards Italy. Winter hasn't arrived yet but NASA thinks that it will come in january, with huge negative anomalies over our territory. We'll see.

09-12-2002

The first chunk of "buran" has invaded the north of Italy; the 850 hPa temperatures are very low, and the wind is blowing from NE to SE all across Italy. Tomorrow will be the coldest day, once again we won't reach 10 °C as a maximum temperature. Nonetheless, a heavy low pressure is approaching from the west through the mediterranean and will begin hitting western Italy tomorrow. Too bad, no snow for today.

20-11-2002

After much ado the rain has finally stopped, reaching a top of 71mm from the beginning of the cold front affection. Today is a transition day between the last cold front and the next one, approaching from Spain to the western regions of Italy. Sardinia will be affected, then the whole western coast, including Rome.

20-11-2002

Added the Stratwarming Alert Page from the Berlin University. Winter would never be the same without the stratalert! ;-)

19-11-2002

The rain is almost stopped here in Rome. The low pressure shifted from the Tirreno sea towards the North-East corner of the country, where it will move towards Hungary and die there. A lot of rain has poured down, the local accumulations should exceed 60-70 mm. Tomorrow we'll see the final results. The moon now is shining through the low clouds over Rome. Now we'll experience north-western winds with low temperatures and occasional thunderstorms, waiting for another cold front on wednesday.

18-11-2002

It's raining again in the whole Region. The max. temperature today has gone up to 16,3 °C, nearly 8 degrees less than yesterday's.
