U2 perform outdoors in the rain for BBC's 'Top of the Pops' TV show. Bono is the only one performing live during Vertigo -- the music is pre-recorded, just like in 2000 when Bono was the only one The band does an abbreviated version of Mystery Girl. U2 performs a brief set that's recorded for the CD:UK television programme. Vertigo, which is done with pre-recorded music and Bono singing live, is expected to air a week from now. Bono wants to redo Sometimes You Can't Make It... because the crowd is too loud the first time. They try it again at the end of the set with Bono explaining that it's an emotional song and he wants to sing it without the clapping and screaming from earlier in the set.

U2 plays a live set at their own Hanover Quay studios which airs live on BBC Radio 1. A small crowd of about 20 fans are in the audience after winning tickets from Radio 1. Bono introduces Miracle Drug by telling the story of a former Mt. Temple student named Christopher Nolan who overcame cerebral palsy, used medical and scientific advancements to be able to write, and is now a published poet and novelist. Bono changes the words in Beautiful Day to mention tonight's radio event.

U2 made their second appearance on the long-running NBC variety show. Unlike most acts which perform on SNL, U2 are allowed to do three full songs, rather than the usual two and the end credits of the show roll over 'I Will Follow'. The opening notes of a fourth song were heard as the show finished after Bono had announced they would do 'One more' - they continued on to play 'All Because of You' and an encore of 'Vertigo' after the broadcast had finished.

The first two songs are performed on a moving flat bed truck on the streets of New York as U2 shoots a music video for 'All Because Of You'. The song is performed several times for the shoot, and Bono later sings 'Santa Claus is Coming To Town' for the crowd that has gathered for the shoot. Later in the day, they perform a brief concert under the Brooklyn Bridge which begins and ends with 'Vertigo'. The performance is taped by MTV for later showing.

U2 perform and are interviewed during the 'Friday Night with Jonathan Ross' program on BBC1. 'Vertigo' is played at the start of the show; the others are done at the show's end, after an interview segment. As the show closes, viewers hear Bono shout 'One more for us!' and the band does 'Vertigo' again. The programme is taped December 2nd and airs a day later.

U2 performs at the 47th Grammy Awards. 'Vertigo' sweeps all three categories in which it's nominated: Best Rock Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocal, Best Rock Song, and Best Short Form Music Video. Bono also performs as part of an all-star chorus, singing the Beatles' 'Across the Universe' as a fund raiser for victims of the Asian tsunami in late December.

U2 performs after being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame by Bruce Springsteen. In the party spirit of the evening, Bono goes into the audience to pop open and spray a champagne bottle during 'Until the End of the World.' Springsteen comes on stage to play guitar and share lead vocals on 'I Still Haven't Found....'
