Italian "Crocodiles"

The fossil record of the Italian Crocodylomorpha is represented by remains coming from approximately 40 localities ranging from Middle Jurassic to late Miocene-early Pliocene in age.

Although "crocodile" remains have always interested Italian Palaeontologists since the second half of the XVII cent., the poor knowledge of their morphology and variability negatively affected their study, leaving room to debates and periodic revisions.

The relative literature is being critically analyzed and the fossil material, stored in several Italian and foreign museums, catalogued.
