For the forty year
olds of today, the SWM is synonymous of a high performance cross country
motorbike. Since the closure of the factory in 1984, the SWM's in circulation
have gradually diminished through demolition.
Luckily, and in ever growing numbers, bike lovers, whose youths have been marked
by these bikes, have hunted them out, rescuing them from demolition.
Today, thanks to these dedicated people, a good number of SWM's have returned to
their original splendour and thanks to numerous meetings and shows, they have
once more 'roared' as before.
I am one of those forty year olds; nostalgic and a little mad, who has restored
SWM's with love and dedication as if they were a part of the family. For this
reason, a few years ago, I decided to rebuild what was practically impossible to
find: the ice-white plastic parts of the models RS and TF1 from 1977 and 1980. I
won't describe all the problems I encountered during this long journey from the
outset to the finish but now I can be proud of the fact that I did it!
Yes. I have complete kits available to be seen in photo along with other
particulars I have done for restoring our SWM's in the best possible way.
I am sure I have made someone very happy! Thank you for your attention and I
wish you all a 'happy ride' - obviously on the seat of an SWM!
