Un discreto film d'azione, un po' stereotipato ma con un buon ritmo e il giusto numero di scene mozzafiato. Cameron Poe (Nicolas Cage) è un condannato a cui è stata concessa una licenza speciale per vedere la moglie e la figlia. Viaggia su un aereo zeppo dei peggiori pendagli da forca degli Stati Uniti i quali, guidati dal supercattivo ma intelligente Cyrus Grissom (John Malkovich), cercano di dirottare l'aereo su Las Vegas. Comincia una lotta contro il tempo per Norman, che cerca di evitare una strage sull'aereo, e per un giovane agente dell'FBI (John Cusack) che dirige le operazioni di soccorso da terra. Un film dal ritmo serrato, ricco di effetti speciali e con un cast adeguato che, correttamente, offre tutto quello che ci si può aspettare dal genere.
