Terzo episodio della serie tratta dal celebre fumetto. Questa volta il miliardario/supereroe deve vedersela con Due facce (Tommy Lee Jones) ed E. Nygma (Jim Carrey); in compenso acquista un fedele alleato - Robin (Chris O'Donnell)- e conquista una bella psicologa (Nicole Kidman). Tim Burton siede in panchina come semplice produttore lasciando la regia a Joel Schumacher (Linea mortale, Il cliente) e il passaggio di testimone non è indolore. Niente più atmosfere dark, niente più "Cavaliere Oscuro", Schumacher sembra ispirarsi soprattutto alla serie televisiva degli anni 60, quella dei "sock" e "bum" in sovrimpressione, per intenderci. Il risultato è un fumettone variopinto con mirabolanti effetti speciali e sequenze ben oltre i limiti della realtà.
