NOTE AL CAPITOLO "MASCHERE " 

Una fra le più importanti manifestazioni dell'arte dello Spada sono le maschere in ogni suo aspetto. La caratteristica più rilevante di queste opere è lo splendore dei colori quasi luminescenti. In realtà, per la speciale tecnica usata, malgrado non siano stati adoperati colori fluorescenti, le tinte appaiono luminose anche con una scarsa illuminazione.

Allo splendore dei colori è contrapposta la tristezza degli occhi d'arlecchini, pierrot e maschere carnevalesche, tuttavia sembra che aleggi una musica attorno a questi personaggi che raggiungono e, in alcuni casi, superano la potenza di un Nolde.

In questa ricerca cromatica, l'immagine è un pretesto per conseguire il massimo possibile dell'astrazione dei colori.

One of the most important demonstrations of the art of Spada is the masks in every their appearance. The more remarkable characteristic of these works is the splendor of the colors almost luminescent.
