LA TOMBA DI UMMIDIA QUADRATILLA
È una tomba ipogea, cioè con una zona sotto terra, una costruzione a pianta centrale. La pianta dell’edificio è a croce greca. Questa struttura ha una corrispondenza con il Mausoleo di galla Placidia. La tomba risale agli inizi del I secolo. Nell’XI secolo fu decorata con affreschi della scuola benedettina. Dopo la guerra un restauro ha ricondotto l’edificio allo stato primitivo, tuttavia dell’antica cappella è rimasto solo un ricordo ben preciso, il nome della località, che è ancora quello di “Crocifisso” THE MAUSOLEUM OF UMMIDIA QUADRATILLA It is a tomb, situated in the zone next the theatre. It is a hypogeal tomb which means that a part of the structure is underground. The building has a Greek cross plan. For the plan and the roofing system is similar to the mausoleum of Galla Placidia. The tomb dates back to the beginning of the first century. In the XI century the church was adorned by frescos of the Benedectine School. After the war further repairs took place; the building was recon structured according to its previous plan. The name of the place is still called “Crocifisso” zone. LE MAUSOLÉE D’UMMIDIA QUADRATILLA L’édifice a un plan en croix grecque. Il date du I siècle. Au siècle XI le mausolée fut décoré de fresques. Après la guerre les travaux de restauration ont redonné à l’édifice son aspect originel.
