This section is dedicated to everything that Shane loves, starting from his sweet mum... |
MAE FILAN Shane loves his mum very much 'I cry when I miss my mum. I always cry when I have to say goodbye to her at the airport' and she's been very important in his life 'fair plays to my mum because she gave me and all us kids confidence in ourselves. Thanks Mum for that. Whenever we had relatives over, all us kids would have to get up and do our bit'. I have to tell her a special thank too, 'cause as you can read in the WL story 'Fortunately for us Shane’s mum was calling Louis’ office to ask him to manage us at the same time he was trying to track us down' says Kian 'And when she finally got to talk to him, Louis offered to try us out as the support act when the Backstreet Boys played in Dublin.' So THANX Mae! |

HORSES Horses have always been very important for Shane, they are like friends for him! 'Horses were a major part of my family and my childhood. All of us learned to ride when we were really young... If I ever have a family, I will encourage my children to be around horses. They are beautiful animals and if you ever get to be afraid of them, it's an awful sad thing'. He talks about them in lots of interview... I can say that he mentions horses more than he mentions Catherine Zeta-Jones too! :) 'We had a grey called Carlton Guy for about fifteen years. He was like the family's pet pony and all of us learned to ride on him for about the first four years... one of my other favourites was Carlton Flight. He was the last pony I had and I nicknamed him Condor. He was a gorgeous-looking brown pony, with wonderful features, and we still have him.' |

CATHERINE ZETA-JONES Every single time that Shane talks about the ideal woman, he mentions this actress! I think she's amazing, and I've always admired her a lot, but... SHANE! Stop talking about her in all the interviews!!! :) I'm jealous! Anyway I have to say that he has got a refined taste, 'cause recently I've read that he loves Michelle Pfeiffer too: these actress are two of the most attractive and refined women I've ever seen!

MICHAEL JACKSON Michael Jackson is Shane's hero 'I was the biggest Michael Jackson fan in Sligo... all I dreamed of was being on stage and having screaming fans just like him. Even when I was at school I would daydream about being Michael Jackson, the most famous pop star in the world. I loved his music above everything for years... I thought Michael Jackson was a god. His music has changed a lot since he started, but I still think he is a brilliant artist'. He mentions his hero in lots of interviews and at SM:TV he also did a very good impression of this artist! It was very funny! :) |

MR. NICKY BYRNE
This is a bit funny, I know... but when Shane was asking who was his favourite popstar, he answered... 'Nicky Westlife!'... and when Nicky was asked the same question, his answer was 'Shane Westlife'... funny guys!!! Great friendship! And also...
... from Smash Hits, May 31, 2000 Which of Westlife would you fancy if you were a girl? Probably Nicky because he is the cleanest! He looks after himself well, he's the Posh of Westlife. He's neat and tidy and he's a nice guy so I think he'd be my favourite. Which member of the band are you closest to? I don't think I'm actually closest to any of them, but mine and Nicky's personalities are most alike. Bryan, Mark and Kian are all quite mad, but me and Nicky are much more laidback. Once in an interview during a TV show Nicky was asked who he'd fancy of Westlife if he was a girl... and the answer was "Shane, definitely!".... of course! |

PIZZA&PASTA Shane loves italian food, so I was wondering... dear Shane, would you like to taste the special Martina's pizza? Lots of people :) think it's a very very good pizza! So... I'm waiting for you! But if you prefer, we could cook spaghetti together, 'cause as Mae said 'Shane’s a good cook! His best dish is spaghetti bolognaise'. What a guy!!! :) |

KICK-BOXING
He
loves this sport (you can see that in the official VC too!), and as Mae said 'he’d play all the different sports but he was
into kick boxing in a big way and when he was eight he won a kick boxing contest'
and poor dad Peter adds 'We had plenty of Bruce Lee videos on the go!' In fact Shane, talking about his childhood, said 'I'd watch them for hours and practise kicking like Bruce Lee around the house on cushions and just about anything that was at the right height - even my cousins and Mairead!' Poor Mairead!!!! ^__^ |
