Mark Knopfler torna dopo il grave incidente per proseguire dove ci aveva lasciato: continuare la strada che da due album ci sta portando a studiare le Americhe.
Questa volta scendiamo fino al Paraguay e ci troviamo a scoprire una serie di interessanti personaggi, da Ray Krock (l'inventore del McDonald) al pugile Sonny Liston, dal cantante Lonnie Donegan allo staff del Presidente degli Stati Uniti, passando per un processo ad Elvis Presley.
L'album, interamente registrato aglli Shangri-la Studios di Malibu, � lento e complesso nella parte centrale dove si salva la ballata Our Shangri-la dedicata al surf della baia della California.
