N.J. library finds famed 1636 book UPI
NEWARK, N.J., Nov. 6 (UPI) -- A rare book containing descriptions and engraving of plants published in England in 1636 has been found in the basement of a New Jersey library.

The Metuchen Library has uncovered among its basement files a 370-year-old reference volume about plants. The leather-bound, 1,600-page book - Herball or General History of Plantes by John Gerard - was printed in England in 1597. The library's copy, printed in 1636, is one of 500 second editions printed.
