Let's have a look to the popular Big bear 7 stars. Let's limit magnitude to the 6th, as we can see it with naked eye, far from the lights of a city. In celestia you can render stars as:
a) Scaled discs: who cares?
b) Fuzzy points (default): a good visual choice up to 9th magnitude, or in
closeups.
c) Points: less bright, just little dots. A must over the 11th magnitude, or
in large field visualizations.
And now let's extend visible stars up to 15th magnitude, using the 2 million
stars database. This is the same field as above. Any difference? Just think that
every dot is a true star and you can travel/visit each of them.
