The first part of the amplification circuit is performed by tubes 6N6 to amplify the voltage. The second part of the amplification is performed by transistors to amplify current.
This part can be treated as output transformer of tube amplifier, i.e. to amplify high voltage but small current audio signal to low voltage but high current audio signal, to drive loudspeakers. Such design combines the advantage of tube amplifier with transistor
amplifier.
The following reasons keep this amplifier performing elegant sound:
(a) SRPP circuit drived by tube 6N6. This circuit ensures good high frequency performance and very low distortion;
(b) The transistor amplification part is Class A type, which can drive loudspeakers easily. Because of no negative feedback, it decreases TIM distortion;
(c) The high voltage stabilization is commutated by 6Z4 tubes, which makes this amplifier sound like pure tube amplifier.
