ostinarsi a cercare qualcos’altro

Indietro

And the man with the weary face

staring her into eyes whispered

I love you because that draws me closer to the torment

and looking at you I see me how I wish to be and once I was.

I love you as the highest step on the stairway to the unfeasible

but I see too other things that now I can’t well distinguish.

But the woman did not answered him

she who had gone through huge swathes of mist

so white to seem snow

which thanks to hers imagination she believed valleys

she just simply stared at the man piercing him with hers certainties.

And the man with the weary face and white hairs

unmoving but pleasantly surprised

because  for the moment at least

he seemed to have found a quiet haven

began to wonder if really was worth

to persist in looking for something else

outside hers strong arms and her no wrinkled face.

For a time inside him continued to agitate confusedly

recent days of loneliness and old illusions

overwhelmed by the becoming

but in the end

with voice halfway between gasp and whimper

trying to remain completely enveloped in her warmth

he said her simply

please do not go, I want to start over.
