Pros & Cons of  HCT

 

PROS

As any design methodology this technique presents both vantages and disadvantages. In the following  table I have put together  those aspects emerged during studies:

It’s easy to apply, at least for simple circuits. Advantages are evident with Single Ended amplifiers

A sonic deterioration is not affected

Simple Vacuum Tubes amplifier with “embedded” HCT have both superior electric performances and efficiency

A global (and lateral) thinking effort is requested to the designer

CONS

A strong dependence exists with respect to both frequency and phase of signal; therefore a wide band optimization is rarely feasible

It’s sensible to load variations

It’s hard or ineffective to apply in complex designs with multigrid devices
