Letters from Burma
Piero Gheddo - Ed. S. Paolo - pp. 240

The reading of this correspondence shows us the personality of Clemente, a man with the temperament of a hero and a saint, who in the mountains of Burma built the Church, gathering scattered people, rescuing them from poverty and a life of wandering and giving them the dignity of "People of God." A strong and humble personality, enthusiastic, generous, open to the needs of the poorest, but above all, a man of faith. After all, we can say that the deeper message of Clemente, as it is for all the saints, is the testimony of a faith that enlightens, warms and transforms a whole life.

(from the preface by Piero Gheddo, postulator of the Cause of Canonisation)

The Forest of Pearls
Piero  Gheddo - Ed. EMI – pp. 160

A rigorous and energetic man, Father Clemente had “the heart of a Blackbird”, as he himself admits, a heart full of tenderness. A heart that suffers and loves, especially the hundreds of orphans collected from the villages of Burma, in 65 years of mission. Passion and hard work, joy and solitude, these are the truest feelings that emerge from his short stories written between jobs in the evening, at the dim glow of a candle in his house in a remote village in the Burmese woods.
A handful of precious perls, are his writings, collected in this book, allowing us to enjoy all the taste of a “front-line” mission.

Before the Sun
Piero  Gheddo - Ed. EMI – pp. 226

This “biography through letters” comes as the persuasive voice of a beautiful angel of God announcing the call to devote himself exclusively to the Kingdom of God.
The book helps to grasp the “secret” of Father Vismara. It 's the secret of a man who, in 65 years in Burma, continued from the first to the last day, his life and his missionary vocation with a sparkling, but by no means naive, joy ; with the enviable verve that emerges from his beautiful letters with a full and unquestioned adherence to the Lord, to his vocation, with an evangelical spirit that made him happily poor and attentive to every need. Page after page, letter by letter, it becomes quite clear that the strength of this man lies in the fact that adherence to Jesus Christ and the Gospel matured and took shape in his life, as a proclamation of love, openness, dedication, to generate true joy, as living water continuously fed into the depths of the people.

(From the preface by Msgr. Renato Corti, bishop of Novara)

Clemente, a missioner in Burma
(Comics interspersed with texts by Maurizio Braga
and Piero Gheddo – Drawings by Renzo and Philip Maggi)
Ed ITL AC supply - pp.64 - size 21x27

Cardinal Martini wrote in the preface: “He was a wonderful servant and witness of the Gospel enamoured of Christ and this is why he lived in an extraordinary way even the most ordinary and everyday experiences. From the many letters that this “Patriarch of Burma”, who was always smiling, wrote, it's easy to discover the reason for the fascination he exerted: his life was a song of love and joy, an ode to everlasting life”.
The comic tells the adventures of Father Clemente in splendid plates designed by Renzo and Philip Maggi, with selected texts from his writings and a biography by Piero Gheddo and Maurizio Braga.
A beautiful book made even more interesting by the faithful iconography that reproduces the costumes and situations of the missionary life of Father Vismara and his mission.
The result is a splendid portrait of a missioner whose life was not a fairy tale, but was characterised by a surprising concreteness and seriousness that are worth knowing and deepening.

Clemente Vismara
The Saint of Children
A cura di Piero Gheddo - Ed. Emi pp 158

This book will provide readers with a significant collection of articles by Father Clemente on children and young people with whom he lived in the 65 years of his life as a missioner in Burma (1923-1988). “The Saint of Children” highlights a typical feature of Clemente’s character: how he educated orphans and abandoned children housed in the mission.
In Clemente’s letters and articles there are expressions of joy and tenderness toward his children. “These orphans are my magnet, I could not part with them even though I am a man close to his sunset. They live because I am alive and I live to give them life. We need each other: I help them, they need me, and we love each other ... not just two hundred, but two thousands of them I would like to have with me. You are my future!”
These stories are the Gospel incarnate in the life of the Servant of God Father Clemente Vismara, as though they were new parables of the Good Samaritan. But these are not fiction tales. Here is a man, a hero of World War I (three medals) who becoming a priest and a missioner, incarnated the commandment of love given to us by Jesus.
