In the middle Ages trumpets could be straight or curved. They were played in the same way but as the last ones had a longer metal pipe. They could give a larger range of sounds or notes. Aristocracy kept the right to have many special groups of trumpet players so that they could, increase the court splendour, but the trumpet was also used for the dancing music. In lots of miniatures you can see the picture of a small group including the trumpet player, bag pipes and bombard players who play in an upper stand cheering up a party or a feast. |
