The building was built between the 12th
and the 13th century by the Tallianti family. In the
internal court there is the massive square based tower which was called Turris
Alba (from Latin white tower), which may possibly derive its name from
the colour of the lime plaster. The tower is two floors higher than the buildings
roof, and small windows with flat ogival arches. The construction is made with
stones and exposed bricks . A rich band with three lines of suspended small arches adorns
the tower. |
