The wool workers had to prevent bull or goat hairs from getting into the wool.
No-one could buy wool from workers without the presence of two other workers. The worker selling or forfeiting wool which should have been worked, had to pay a fine of ten coins, and was kept in prison until he paid and the buyer had to give back the goods without being refunded. The length and the
width of cloth was fixed by the Council: two overseers who were
allotted by the "Podestà" marked the goods with a
stamp according to the quality and they periodically checked the shops of the wool workers
to prevent them from committing fraud. |
