Filippo of Savoy, prince of Acaia
Son of Tommaso III , lord of Piedmont and of Guya of Borgogna. In 1301 he got married
to Isabella of Villehardouin, widow for the 2nd time and heir of the principality of
Acaia. In Piedmont he practised a policy of expansion which caused him the opposition of
the lords of Monferrato, Saluzzo and governors of Cuneo, but thanks to the good
relationship with his uncle, prince Amedeo V of Savoia and with his cousin, earl Edoardo,
he could resist the general offensive. He died in Pinerolo on the 25th September 1334.
