Ludovico of Savoy, prince of Acaia, Lord of Piedmont

The son of James and Margaret of Beaujeu.was  born on 7 October 1336. He got the princedom from his brother Amedeo, who died without a male heir. He repeatedly tried to re-establish the peace in Piedmont, but this was achieved only in 1413 after a war in which himself took part with Amedeo VIII of Savoia. He founded the university of Turin in 1404. He died without a legitimate heir (his natural son Ludovico became the founder of the family of the Lords of Racconigi and the marshal of Savoy) on 6th December 1418. After his death the count Amedeo VIII annexed Piedmont to the other provinces of Savoy.
