Painted horse is a leftover from Who do we think we are, recorded in Rome in the summer of 1972.  The exclusion of this song from the album caused Gillan's departure in 1973: he featured a long harmonica solo here, and Blackmore didn't like the idea of a third lead instrument (he barely stood the existence of two, ask Jon Lord if you don't believe!).

Hush, Wring that neck and Child in time were recorded live at the Royal Albert Hall, London, 24th September 1969, as part of the group's exhibition before their Concerto for Group and Orchestra.

Black night was recorded live in Japan, August 1972, and is a leftover from Made in Japan.

Cry free is a leftover from In rock, recorded on 13th January 1970.

Original UK release:  Purple TPS-3510.

Also released in other European countries, Purple [country prefix]-60072.
