McCarrol's legal action thrown out of court

A founding member of British rock group Oasis has lost his bid to sue the band's lawyers over his firing because he took too long to start legal action.
London's High Court threw out the claim by drummer Anthony McCarroll that solicitors Statham Gill Davies had negligently handled Oasis's 1993 recording agreement with Sony, allowing the band to get rid of him instantly without compensation.
The judge, Justice Gray, awarding summary judgment to the solicitors without the need for a full trial, said McCarroll had failed to bring his claim within the legal limit of six years from the date his cause of action arose.
McCarroll helped form Oasis with schoolmates Liam Gallagher, Paul "Bonehead" Arthurs and Paul McGuigan.
Gallagher's brother Noel joined later to form a bad-boy sibling double act which helped project the band to the forefront of the British rock scene and the front pages of newspapers.
McCarroll was part of the band when their debut album "Definitely Maybe" reached No. 1 in the UK charts in 1994, but had left by the time of their second and biggest hit album "(What's the Story) Morning Glory?" in 1995.

The judge said McCarroll had intended to claim that Statham had acted negligently and "failed to point out that the effect of the Sony agreement was that the name Oasis was owned by the Gallagher brothers and left him vulnerable to instant dismissal without compensation."
"My conclusion is that the claimant did suffer relevant and measurable damage at the date when the Sony agreement was executed. It follows that the cause of action accrued more than six years before these proceedings were issued," he said.
The judge said Statham repudiated the suggestion of negligence and added that McCarroll had previously won a "modest lump sum" from the four other band members over royalties from songs made before he was ejected from the group.

Noel angry with Liam + Milan gig

Angry Noel Gallagher blew his top after his brother Liam didn't turn up to meet fans.
The Oasis singer missed his plane from Spain to Milan (22nd), leaving the band to sign autographs without him.
Noel said: "Liam thinks he is essential to the band and that he is above us. He thinks he is Elvis Presley.
"As far as I am concerned, and this goes for the other guys in the band, he is not one of us. Meeting fans is part of the job."
The guitarist also took a pop at arch rival Robbie Williams.
Noel said: "He doesn't make music. His is a business to make money and sell T-shirts."
In Milan gig, after 'Better Man', Noel played two wonderful acoustic versions of Wonderwall and Married With Children.

Oasis triumph in Glasgow

From "Daily Record":

OASIS returned to Scotland last night to deliver a storming performance.
From the moment Alan White, Gem Archer, Andy Bell, Noel and Liam Gallagher took the stage in Glasgow's Braehead Arena it was obvious they meant business.

Liam was, as he was prone to boast, quite obviously "mad for it".

Appearing to a pre-recorded Fuckin' In The Bushes, he applauded the crowd before launching into Hello with the refrain "It's good to be back".
Without pause, the band cracked on with the recent single The Hindu Times.
Liam practically devoured the microphone as he delivered angst-ridden but note- perfect renditions of Hung In A Bad Place and Go Let It Out.
"This is a brand new song," said Liam before singing What's The Story, Morning Glory followed by Stop Crying Your Heart Out, by which time it was clear Oasis had shrugged off the apathy shown during recent shows abroad.

Oasis are back with a bang.

They've returned with the proof that they remain and always have been a truly great rock band.

Oasis in Britpop film

A new film documenting the rise of Britpop is to be released in the UK next year, dotmusic can report.
'Live Forever' charts the resurgence of British music, art, fashion, film and politics in the 1990's and features contributions from Liam Gallagher, Damon Albarn, Jarvis Cocker, Damien Hirst, Peter Mandelson MP, designer Ozwald Boateng, and magazine editor James Brown amongst others.
Kicking off with the Stone Roses' now legendary Spike Island concert, the film also takes a nostalgic look back at the Oasis vs Blur standoff, Oasis' Knebworth gig, Labour's return to power and the return of pop music towards the end of the century.
Producer John Battsek has revealed plans to release the movie in the States soon after its UK release. He told Xfm: "The reaction from the US so far has been really good. They love the Britishness of it and in typical US-style love the chance to embrace a film that salutes British culture."
Battsek said there were plans for an accompanying soundtrack album to the film, though details were still to be confirmed.
'Live Forever' is due to be released in the UK on January 31, with a London Film Festival premiere scheduled for November 12.

Noel wants Meg back?

Oasis star Noel Gallagher wants his ex-wife Meg Mathews back, according to a report.

Gallagher, 35, is said to be keen to get back with Mathews, 34, now that she has cut back on her endless celebrity circuit partying which had been causing rifts when they were together.
If true, it comes as somewhat of a surprise, following their acrimonious divorce and recent settlement, rumoured to be £4 million.
Mathews has been regular gossip column fodder for her love of the good life and shopping trips with showbiz pal Kate Moss.
The two met in 1994 when Mathews worked at a DJ booking agency. She then landed a job at Oasis' former record label Creation.
The couple married in 1997 in Las Vegas and had a baby daughter, Anais, in January 2000 but split up shortly afterwards.
Gallagher broke up with his PR girlfriend Sara MacDonald, 31, in August, which as been blamed on a magazine interview she gave.
However, according to reports, the real reason for the relationship ending is that Noel has been ringing Meg and wants to get back with her partly for the sake of Anais.

Legendary gig in Japan

NOEL GALLAGHER was forced to play an acoustic show after his brother LIAM walked offstage during an OASIS show in Japan.
Oasis played at the Fukuoka Kokusai Center (October 1) as part of a world tour. Approximately halfway through the band's set, Liam walked off stage, leaving Noel to play a solo set.

A fan told NME.COM: "At the end his vocal duties in 'Hung In A Bad Place', (Liam) pulled out the microphone and handed it to a crew member. The member came on the stage with three microphones, hooked one up, and went back offstage. At the end of 'Morning Glory', the band’s sixth song, he forwent the last few lines, and once the song was over left the stage."

The band then left the stage, and after about ten minutes, a chair and acoustic guitar were set up and Noel walked on.

An eight-song solo acoustic performance followed, which featured a botched cover of The Verve's 'Bitter Sweet Symphony', 'Talk Tonight', 'Stop Crying Your Heart Out', 'Whatever', 'The Masterplan', 'You’ve Got The Heart of A Star' and 'Live Forever'.

The full band then returned without Liam and played three more songs without comment. The setlist ran:

'Hello'
'The Hindu Times'
'Hung In A Bad Place'
'Go Let it Out'
'Columbia'
'Morning Glory'
Noel acoustic set:

'Stop Crying Your Heart Out'
'Talk Tonight'
'Live Forever'
'Bittersweet Symphony'
'Whatever'
'The Masterplan'
'You’ve Got the Heart of a Star'
'Wonderwall'
(Oasis set, Noel singing)

'She’s Electric'
'Little By Little'
'Force of Nature'
'Hey Hey My My'
'Don’t Look Back in Anger'

A UK spokesperson for the band is currently unavailable for comment. However, Liam's voice has given out on more than one date on their current world tour.

Oasis are scheduled to play at the Osaka Castle Hall (October 2-3), and more dates in Japan, ending at the Nagoya Rainbow Hall (8). From there, they will go off to Australia for more shows, returning to Europe in November and December.
