Claudio Malacarne

Introduction

Claudio Malacarne Claudio Malacarne was born in Mantua (Italy) in 1956. When he was very young, he proved painter creating his first works at the age of 14. He frequented master Enrico Longflis's studio with methodical attention, succeeding in maturing his own pictorial investigation: so he is considered one of the most prolific colourists of our time.

He was born in the Mantuan countryside (Northern Italy), in the summer of 1956 from a family of farmers and for some years he lived in strict contact with nature: the country landscape, simple and rural people; those elements will be fundamental in his pictorial background.
Then he moved to the city of Mantua, but he equally kept a living relationship with his countryside, where he used to spend summer at his grandparents' house. Summer has always been his favorite season for colors and light contrasts, which started to be interesting to him since his youth. In his first school distemper works they immediately noticed his uncommon ability in drawing and in the use of color.
Claudio was referred by his teachers to a good School of Fine Arts, but his parents had other ideas on his future and did not comply with his wishes. This caused a sense of frustration and deep conflict, but Claudio decided to follow his project since he understood that painting was the only interesting thing to him, a reason of life.
His artistic vein which was already very strong, appeared in the first oil paintings. He studied and observed, with great interest, the big names of painting, showing a strong attitude and preference for impressionists and  post-impressionists. He loved very much the  straight off  paintings, with all those pithy brush-strokes that he already felt like his own. He studied passionately his favorite painters Gauguin, Van Gogh, the Fauves, Soroilla and Guttuso.
He attended the studios of some Mantuan painters, where he could consolidate his artistic education.
When he was 20 he met Marisa and fell in love with her. He understood immediately that she was his soul mate and she became his muse. During their engagement they understand that they had the same pictorial tastes and she was enthusiastically looking at his works.
When he was 24 they married and after a while Nicola and Federica were born. He has a strong feeling for family and his wife was always by his side, supporting him and encouraging him to go on.
In 1985 he started to exhibit his works, which were immediately appreciated by the public and the critics. His solo exhibitions were following each other and his works were notices by some merchants of art and in a short time were included in a market circuit at a worldwide level.
He continued with his search for light. He traveled a lot to know new colors, atmospheres and subjects from the very near Garda Lake to the landscapes of the Southern Italy up to the Caribbean.
Currently Claudio Malacarne is appreciated for his chromatic imagination, his aesthetic taste, the search for colors which are impetuous and soft at the same time. This free interpretation allows him to better express his feeling thus attaining an inner wellbeing, which is strongly shown in his pictorial balance.
His consolidated and mature painting is appreciated by important collectors all over the world: form Europe to Japan to U.S.A.
His Italian landscapes, the marinas, the gardens full of flowers, the palm trees, the human characters (his daughter Federica often appears as a model), are the most loved features both by Italian and foreign customers, as well as the actor Denzel Washington which has two paintings in his private collection.
He currently lives and works in his atelier house immersed in the Mantuan countryside.
