Mint for Personal Use Laptop
I have an IBM X30 laptop, built out of many IBM X30 laptops. I tried recently to run OpenSUSE 10.2 on it, but did not have much luck. It runs Mint Linux 2.0 "out of the box" without any issue at all. So that is the Distro it still runs.
The computerWorld is a Circle
Since my posts about Mint 2.0 I have installed Mint 2.1 on my Toshiba M45 and IBM X30: It was the same experience as 2.0 more or less: six install panels, 20 minutes, new OS. Even better, OpenOffice.org 2.1 installed by default.

Other than my MacBook, I live on an IBM X30 running Linux. I love the little computer, but I disliked openSUSE on it. It had been running Ubuntu 6.10 before, which meant tons of things "just worked" (tm), from a mobile laptop hardware

Comparing IBM X30, X32, X40 and X60
It’sa basic comparison of how the IBM X-series notebooks stack up against each other and why you might want one over the other (say, you need a Firewire slot):. X30 and X60 have firewire, X40 doesn’t. X32 is a hybrid between an X30 and
A return to normality. . . .
In other news, I'm now the proud owner (finally) of a subnotebook - an IBM X30. It's great, but it would be even better if I could get Ubuntu installed on the bloody thing! Order a USB CD-ROM drive: check.
