INTERNATIONAL SUPERSTAR LAURA PAUSINI MAKES ENGLISH-LANGUAGE DEBUT ON ATLANTIC; FROM THE INSIDE PREMIERING OCTOBER 29TH; FIRST SINGLE, SURRENDER, READY FOR RADIO

New York - Sept. 5, 2002 -- Atlantic Records has announced the forthcoming release of the first english-language album from international superstar Laura Pausini.
From the inside, which also marks Pausini's Atlantic label debut, is slated for an October 29th street date in the U.S. Pausini's previous italian and spanish-language recordings -- all released exclusively via Warner Music International -- have garnered worldwide sales totaling twenty million albums, earning her 160 platinum discs and legions of fans throughout Europe and South America.
From the inside will be preceded by the first single, Surrender. The song is shipping to multi-format radio this week, with no less than four separate remixes being serviced to outlets nationwide. The track, produced by John Shanks (Michelle Branch, Melissa Etheridge, Joe Cocker), enjoys eclectic and imaginative re-interpretations by Mark Taylor (Cher, Jennifer Lopez) and electronica wizard Mike Rizzo, a radio-edit remix by Eric Kupper (Jennifer Lopez, Marc Anthony, Jessica Simpson), as well as an "Ultamix" remix combining both the Mark Taylor and Eric Kupper versions. The companion video to Surrender was shot in Los Angeles, with veteran director Bille Woodruff (Celine Dion, Britney Spears, Nelly, Fat Joe) behind the camera.
Recorded primarily in Los Angeles, From the inside features the Italian-born chanteuse's collaborations with a stellar lineup of today's hottest producers, including Shanks, KC Porter (Carlos Santana, Ricky Martin), Guy Roche (Cher, Celine Dion), Evan Rogers and Carl Sturken (*NSYNC, Christina Aguilera), Patrick Leonard (Jewel, Madonna), and Jimmy Bralower (M2M, Cyndi Lauper).
Laura Pausini's career was launched in 1993, when she won the prestigious Italian Song Festival in San Remo, Italy. Among her many accolades are such honors as the World Music Award for "Best-Selling Italian Artist", the "Lo Nuestro" award for "Most Promising Latin Artist", and the "I.F.P.I. Platinum Europe Award", as well as four 2001 Latin Grammy Awards nominations (including "Best Female Pop Vocal Album"). Pausini has performed at a variety of high-profile concerts, including Pope John Paul II's annual Christmas Concert and, alongside fellow countryman Luciano Pavarotti, at the operatic legend's 1999 "Pavarotti and Friends" charity extravaganza.
Pausini made her first forays into the English-language arena with contributions to Atlantic's soundtrack albums for the films "Message In A Bottle" and "Pokemon 2000". She has also collaborated with some of contemporary music's most prominent artists, including Phil Collins, David Foster, Tim Rice, and Richard Marx.
