When I was a little girl, I used to stare at my grandmother Erminia while she was sewing. With contempling and learning eyes, I suddenly fell in love with the needlecraft world.

Large fabrics, a meter, some skillful and precise soapstone strokes, and then a dress, a jacket, a blouse, a coat - almost magic. I learnt that all kind of things can be produced with our very own hands, and creating clothing, accessories and other objects rapidly seemed to me - and still seems! - the most beautiful thing on Earth.

I was a tiny five-years-old kid and already had my darning-needle and coloured cotton and nylon threads, ready to create a new whole wardrobe for my dolls..or dolls themselves! Later, my big love for bags and accessories, and the Lantern Bug experience.

I started to work with textile materials, expanding their textural potential by means of ribbons insertions and appliques. Then I recently moved to more experimental grounds, trying to approach paper materials under an uncommon perspective. In fact, while paper is generally thought as a mere support for written or visual ideas, I rather find it challenging and fascinating to think of it as a structural material.
Moreover, within this very same line of research, the upcycle issue comes in: the creative re-use of waste materials can effectively be an important tool for us to do our part in keeping our planet healthy...and have a lot of fun at the same time!

Some more things about me...
I am a pigments&dyes nerd, a music junky, an electric guitar lover, and a stick bugs (Chiralis and Cornette!) breeder.
I grew up in Sardinia, between Assemini, San Vito and the beautiful city of Cagliari. I moved to Ravenna in 2008 to study Sciences applied to the study of material Cultural Heritage and I dream of being a researcher in the future - here in Italy or somewhere else. Probably somewhere else.

A note about my mascotte
The lantern bug, properly Pyrops candelaria, is an insect in the order of Hemiptera, native to southeast Asia (Laos and Thailand mainly).

As you may have already guessed, I have a weakness for insects, especially the weirdest and cutest ones - because yes, insects can be cute. How would you otherwise define a Curculio elephas, a Bacillus rossius (like my beloved Chiralis and Cornette) and other Phasmatodea, and obviously a Pyrops candelaria with its lovely polka-dotted snout?

(Alright, if I ever had a chance to look normal to you, I've just lost it.)

This madness has begun to instill in my brain right during my first semester at University, thanks to the Entomology classes and the outstanding professor I had the luck to learn from.
Before that I swear I was sane, I only liked Lepidoptera, ants and ladybugs!
