Agriculture
& Stock breeding
The
lands, with a gentle and undulating morphology, are very fertile
and this makes it possible for agriculture to flourish. The
valley zones are characterised by the black earth, known as
chernozems and alluvial soils. The
corn cultivation takes the biggest share.
The
basic crops are winter wheat, maize,
and sunflower, orchards, vineyards. To these can be added the
cultivations of winter barley and oats. The rose growing
develop successfuly in the last few years.
The
gardens of the village have vegetables like tomatoes, potatoes,
cucumbers, caulflowers, peppers, aubergines, sugar beets etc.
Most popular of legumes there are beans, peas, lentils. The
orchard developed outside the village are mostly municipal
private property. There are a tipical Bulgarian friuts like
peaches, apricots, cherries, apples, pears, plums etc.
The
cultivable land of the village’s territory is worked by
two farming cooperatives.
Breeding
involves above cattle, ovines, pigs and poultry. The
people develop the stock breeding due to the many natural and
human made meadows. The
agriculture and the stock breeding enjoy an appreciate
tradition.
In the past
the cannery industry, famose in Bulgaria were developed here,
but today the production is interromped.
The
vine- growing
The
vineyards are located on the hills. The foreign sorts of
grapes grown are Cabernet Sauvignon, Muscat of Hamburg, Sensò,
Riesling, Adam Muscat. The tipical bulgarian sorts and the
traditional vines of the Danubian Valley, there are Gamza,
Bulgar, Pamid, Dimiat, Fetiaska Alba etc.
