All
travelers are required to register with the regional passport
office for foreigners or the police within 48 hours after their
arrival in the country and to inform the office about any change
in their address.
You DO really need to register. It is a
2000 Leva fine (about $1200 US) if you do not register.
If
you have booked with a travel agency, this will be taken care
of. Otherwise, don't worry too much about it.
The
passport office here is in the police of Byala.

Mon - Fri
8.30 - 12.00 ; 13.00- 17.30
Visitors should
carry their passport with them at all times. The Bulgarian
authorities do not consider presentation of a copy of one's
passport to be sufficient.
