The church “St. Archangel Michail” is situated in the old higher part of the village called “g̣rnata magalà”.
The church was built by the endowment of the inhabitants from the village named “gazdi”, a workers abroad - in Russia, Hungary, Ucraina.

In this time the village was a part of the region Tunà Vilayèt, the Danubian province of the Ottoman empire with military ruler Mithhàd Pashà.

The building of the church was started in 1854, but it was very difficult enterprise.
Turks in the village did not allow Bulgarians to build the church and every night they pulled down the foundations of the new construction, made during the day.

The church was completed in 1856 with the contribution of the Turkish administrator.
Mithhàd Pashà was generous but the Bulgarians did not have the permission to build the church higher than 3-4 meters, according to the Ottoman rules.

The church’s bell, made in Russia was donated a few months later.

Over 900 baptisims and weddings were celebrated there, before the National liberation in 1878.
