(hamlet Heurne)
(click here for more info about this acquarel)

The farmstead on the acquarel is called "Kappers"(2) and has been mentioned for the first time in 1534. At that moment it is the property of Henrick Kappers and Mette.

Hendrick Lensinck alias Kappers is the father of the Kappers family that lived on the above farmstead and their descendants. On a separate page is represented his geneagram with more than hundred male descendants with the Kappers surname. The origin of the Kappers surname is a farmstead, that got its name from its first owner Kap.

The last Kappers that lived on the farmstead was Harmen Jan Kappers, born 7 June 1794 and son of Hendrik Jan Kappers and Mette Veldhuis. He leaves 15 August 1854 from Aalten to the USA. Shortly before he had become widower for the second time. He left together with his youngest brother Hendrik (born 25 March 1815) and his children. After the Kappers the family Hoopman lived on the farmstead.

The farmstead has been destroyed by fire in May 1977. It was located at the Kappers Road (Kappersweg) in the hamlet Heurne in the municipality Aalten in the province of Gelderland in the Netherlands. The acquarel has been made by Henri Kappers.
