ENEL INAUGURA DUE IMIPIANTI GEOTERMOELETTRICI PER LA
PRODUZIONE DI ENERGIA ELETTRICA

Un investimento di 210 miliardi di lire

1. Monteverdi, 21 luglio 1997 - II Presidente dell'Enel Chicco Testa ha inaugurato oggi a Monteverdi Marittimo (PI) due impianti geothermoelettrici per la produzione di energia elettrica, per un investimento totale di circa 210 miliardi di lire. Gli impianti hanno un capacità totale di circa 40 Mw e possono generare 260 milione di kW/h all'anno, quanto basta per soddisfare il fabbisogni di 350,000 persone.

2. Gli impianti sono al vertice della tecnologica. L'Enel è, infatti, una delle prime aziende elettriche nel mondo ad utilizzare la tecnica di riciclaggio di fluidi ad una profondità di più di 1,000 metri. Gli impianti, così concepiti, riducono notevolmente l'impatto sull'ambiente e, nel contempo, riducono i livelli di inquinamento acustico.

3. L'inaugurazione rappresenta per l'Enel un passo importante per lo sviluppo dell'energia geotermale. Nei prossimi cinque anni ci saranno impianti sufficienti per aumentare la capacità produttiva di circa 200 Mw in aggiunta agli attuali 512 Mw forniti dai 27 impianti convenzionali già esistenti. Dal momento, poi, che il vapore ha svariati usi nell'industria e come fonte d'energia alternativa per il riscaldamento domestico, la costruzione di questi due nuovi impianti dovrebbe avere un impatto positivo sull'intera zona intorno a Monteverdi, per quanto riguarda l'occupazione e i benefici socioeconomici ad essa collegati.

4. "Possiamo affermare con grande soddisfazione - ha dichiarato Testa - che nell'ottica di sviluppare e migliorare le risorse geotermiche del paese, l'Enel si sta impegnando attivamente nel campo della ricerca mentre tiene particolarmente in conto l'ambiente e le situazioni locali."

ENEL: INAUGURATES TWO GEOTHERMOELECTRIC POWER STATIONS

An investment of 210 billion lire

1. Monteverdi, 21 July 1997 - Enel Chairman Chicco Testa today inaugurated two new geothermoelectric power stations in Monteverdi Marittimo (PI) for a total investment of around 210 billion lire. These power plants have an overall capacity of 40 Mw and are able to produce 260 million kW/h per year, enough to meet the requirements of 350,0{}0 people.

2. These are two state-of-the-art plants, making Enel one of the first electricity companies in the world to use a technology that involves fluid washing at a depth of more than 1,000 metres. These plants have also been designed to reduce their impact on the envlronment, cutting noise levels at the same time.

3. For Enel, this is another important step in the development of geothermal power. Over the next five years there are plans to raise capacity by around 200 Mw in addition to the current 512 provided by the the 27 existing plants. Given the multiple uses of steam in industry and as an alternative source of energy for domestic heating, the construction of these two new Enel power stations should have a positive impact on the whole of the Monteverdi area in terms of employment, as well as social and economic benefits.
